For most cycle clubs the club run is a major feature and Pearson Cycling Club is no different. Uniquely PCC rides use trained ride leaders (captains) who help maintain group safety and stop people getting lost! However, this doesn’t remove any individual responsibility for safe group riding.
The club organises two formal club rides per month, though in some months there are more. Club rides are open to all members whatever their cycling ability. The aim is to bring club members together in a social ride that builds confidence and allows club members to gain experience in riding in a group and riding on the road. These are also good training sessions for those who want to enter their first sportives. On all rides we aim for a safe and enjoyable group ride, on good or interesting roads and always with a decent café stop on route.
Groups are allocated by the ride captain at the start of each ride who will advise on speeds and any changes or hazards on the day. We operate a no drop policy and always try to ride as a cohesive group – good communication between riders is key.
Club rides meet on Kingston Bridge for an 8:30 departure, unless otherwise notified.
